(ANS - Hong Kong) - Yesterday, 28 May, with the celebration of Holy Eucharist, the tenth Congress of the Association of Salesian Cooperators of the Region of East Asia-Oceania, held at the Salesian School “Kowloon Tang King Po” in Hong Kong from 26 May, concluded. The Congress, which had been postponed for three years because of the pandemic, was held in the presence of the World Councillor for the region, Philip Yu, and a hundred other participants, from 13 different countries, representing seven ASC Provinces.

(ANS – Messina) – Two intensive weeks (29 May – 1 June, and 26-30 June) will be held at the St Thomas Institute of Theology, Messina, which is attached to the Faculty of Theology at the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS) in Rome.  They will be dedicated to formation of pastoral leaders, catechists and experts in the field of liturgical music, sacred art and religious tourism in various shrines. Led by Fr Antonino Romano, Director of the Giovanni Cravotto Centre for Religious Pedagogy, it will offer a comprehensive study programme and an excellent opportunity to develop synodal skills for local churches to strengthen basic skills in proclamation and catechesis.

(ANS – Jerusalem) – On 25 May 2023, His Beatitude Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem appointed Rev. Fr. Matthew Marcel COUTINHO, SDB, Episcopal Vicar for Migrants and Asylum Seekers in Israel. The Vicar has full and direct responsibility, on all the pastoral activities concerning migrants and asylum seekers. As Episcopal Vicar he is responsible for Diocesan priests, and for priests belonging to Religious Congregations, who take care of this special pastoral ministry in Israel; he also has responsibility over the personal parish of the "Holy Family", which offers pastoral services in various parts of the Holy Land. 

(ANS – Rundu) – Sixty-three youth who attend the Don Bosco Center in Rundu, Namibia, had a healthy breakfast before school thanks to donor funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The youth ranged in age from 7-15 and were from poor families. This food helped to ensure they had at least one healthy meal a day.

(ANS - Rome) - In the fifth testimony offered by the missionaries who have already arrived at their destination, and who are now attending a special orientation course, the speaker is young Emmanuel Jeremia Mganda, a 30-year-old Tanzanian who has been serving since last year in the Brazil-Manaus (BMA) Province in the missions among the indigenous Yanomami.

(ANS – Seville) – Salesians from the Mary Help of Christians Province (SMX), have decided through various partner institutions to improve the chances of young people, especially those at risk of exclusion, to find a job through a solution that relies on education and, at the same time, includes the implementation of strategies to internationalise the quality of their centres. This is why the SMX Province is participating in a vocational training project of the Erasmus+ KA2 programme, together with several other partner institutions from Belgium, Germany, Finland, France and Slovenia.
