(ANS – Jowai) – 15 February 2023 set another milestone in the Province of Shillong, particularly in the chronicle of Bosco Pnar as it got its new building inaugurated. Present on this auspicious occasion were Fr. Ferdinand Dkhar, the Diocesan Administrator of Jowai, Fr. Paul O Lyngkot, the Salesian Provincial of the Province, Fr. James Thyrniang, Economer, Fr. Simeon Sungoh of Jowai Diocese, Fr. Francesco Dhar, Director of Bosco Pnar, Fr. Donbor Jyrwa, the Manager of Bosco Pnar, Fr. Genesius Wanniang, the Executive Director of BIDS – the Province Development Office, together with some Salesians from Jowai as well as Shillong region, Salesian Sisters and Saleisan Family members from the Jaintia region, staffs and students of Bosco Pnar, and other collaborators including the contractor Bah Mawthoh, architect Kong Inaliza Nongbyrsaw.
(ANS - Goma) - Thousands of displaced people in eastern Congo are still in need of assistance. The situation remains critical, especially around Goma, the capital of North Kivu Province. To seek safety, thousands more displaced people have settled on the grounds of the Salesian work "Don Bosco Shasha." The Salesians are doing their best for them, but they themselves need help.
(ANS - Huancayo) - The "incontestable city" of Huancayo - as it is known in the country - is one of the most important in the highlands of Peru, nestled in the Mantaro Valley, enveloped by rivers and a sky of a spectacular blue that mesmerizes visitors and residents alike. Moreover, in 2015 it was ranked as the place where the happiest people live, according to a study by Peruvian researcher Jorge Martín Yamamoto Suda, published by the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. And indeed it was with great happiness that Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, 10th Successor of Don Bosco, arrived in Huancayo, meeting with the young Salesians of Peru on Saturday, February 18, to celebrate the national meeting of the 2023 Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) with them.
(ANS - Magdalena del Mar) - Yesterday, 17 February, the fifth day of accompaniment on the Peruvian soil, Fr Ángel experienced pleasant and enriching moments. In the morning he met the Provincial Council members, to share and discuss the challenges facing the province and the congregation. It was also the first session of the newly appointed Provincial, Fr Juan Pablo Alcas sdb. In the afternoon, the Rector Major went to the Rosenthal de la Puente Salesian College to spend a moment of fraternity with the boys and girls of the Salesian Houses in Peru: Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cusco, Calca, Monte Salvado, Huancayo, Arequipa and Breña, who had gathered to celebrate the 16th National Meeting of Don Bosco Houses.
