(ANS - Turin) - The winter plenary session of the General Council is underway these days in Turin-Valdocco, at the Salesian Motherhouse. The Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, together with his Councilors, began the session last December 1 and will continue until next January 27, 2023. Numerous and relevant are the commitments and activities to fulfill the mission of guiding and governing the entire Congregation.

(ANS – Ruurumwe) – Residents of the Ruurumwe village, located outside of Rundu, Namibia, have access to clean water thanks to donor funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The project, part of the Salesian Missions "Clean Water Initiative," provided a new borewell, water tank, and pump.

(ANS - Rome) - This year, the great Christmas Concert at the Vatican shall be a special concert under the banner of peace and solidarity. The evening, which has already been enlivening audiences for 29 years with music and stories coming from the works run by the Sons of Don Bosco, in 2022 will feature the Salesian missions in Ukraine and all homes that are in conflict and war contexts.

(ANS - Rome) - A group of 30 journalists accredited to the Vatican Press Office and the Italian Foreign Press will be spending next weekend (Dec. 16-18) on a "Press Tour" in Turin, focusing on the central places where St. John Bosco worked. The group is organized by Fr. Giuseppe Costa, Secretary of the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, and co-spokesperson for the Congregation.

(ANS – Warsaw) – On November 29-30, 2022, a meeting of the Coordinating Team for Aid to Ukraine was held at the Provincial House in Warsaw, on the initiative of Father George Menamparampil, responsible for Salesian coordination of emergency response. Along with the Warsaw Coordination Team, the meeting was attended by Angel Gudiña, coordinator of the Don Bosco Network (Spain), Alžbeta Kyselica Zelná, coordinator of humanitarian aid to Ukraine (Slovakia), and Alberto Livoni, coordinator of humanitarian aid at the VIS organization (Volontariato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo, Italy).

(ANS - Cremisan) - On Monday, December 5, 2022, participants in the School of Social Communication of the Salesian Province of the Middle East - connecting from various Salesian houses in Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, and the Holy Land - took part in a digital meeting on the theme of the "synodal dimension of communication."
