(ANS - Messina) - The first Convention of theological-spiritual studies on the figure of the Servant of God Monsignor Giuseppe Cognata, SDB (1885-1972), Bishop of Bova and Founder of the Salesian Oblates of the Sacred Heart (SOSC), IX group of the Salesian Family, ended last Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, at the headquarters of the "St. Thomas" Theological Institute in Messina. The large and qualified participation in the Conference saw students, St. Thomas faculty, numerous SOSCs, experts and scholars of the history of Christianity immerse themselves in the articulate and dense program.

(ANS – Messina) – Each year, the Annual General Body meeting of BOSCONET (DB Network – South Asia) is preceded by a capacity-building program. This year the theme of the 2-day capacity-building initiative was “Leading, Engaging, and Accelerating Development” (LEAD), held on 14 and 15 November 2022 at Don Bosco Media Centre, Manikandam, Trichy.

(ANS - Nairobi) - On Nov. 14-18, 2022, the Salesian Formation Center for Africa and Madagascar (SAFCAM, in English) conducted its first training workshop held at the "Don Bosco Youth Educational Service" center in Nairobi; its theme: "Salesian Pastoral Accompaniment." Planned for Salesians in the East Africa Province (AFE), the event was facilitated by Alex Mulongo and Philip Lazati, and had 11 participants.

(ANS) - It was Thursday, August 26, 2021, over 15 months ago, when the Salesian School of Social Communication was launched, aimed at Provincial Delegates for Social Communication and their teams. Now, on November 24, 2022, this long journey of formation has ended, with 55 students completing their studies.

(ANS - Goma) - Last Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, as part of his visit to Goma, in the East Delegation of the "Central Africa" (AFC-EST) Province, the Provincial Superior of the "Mary Most Holy Assumption" Province of AFC, Fr. Guillermo Basañes, expressed his solidarity and assured the commitment of the Salesians to the suffering population and victims of the human barbarity that has been raging for several years in the Kivu region. "Don Bosco is always present, especially in situations of hardship," he said in a video message.

(ANS - Capriglio) - Last Friday, Nov. 25, at 9 p.m. local time (UTC+1), in memory of the Venerable Margherita Occhiena, mother of St. John Bosco, a Mass was celebrated at the parish "San Martino" in Capriglio, thus commemorating the 166th anniversary of her dies natalis in her hometown. Margaret Occhiena, known as Mamma Margaret, died in Turin, at the Valdocco Oratory, on Nov. 25, 1856, and was declared Venerable on Oct. 23, 2006.
