(ANS - Butare) - Child labor, disease, hunger, mistreatment are just some of the contexts in which street children find themselves in Rwanda. “They don't go to school, survive by offering their labor and dedicating themselves to small trades and businesses. They ended up living on the street as a result of separations, mourning, or simply because of too much misery,” testifies Fr Daniel Antunez, Argentine Salesian, President of "Missioni Don Bosco" in Turin, about the sad reality that unites so many minors in the African country.

(ANS - Lisbon) - Yesterday, February 9, "Fundação Salesianos", a body that brings together Salesian schools in Portugal, and "Cambridge University Press" and "Cambridge Assessment English" signed a protocol that aims to ensure all students a progressive improvement in their knowledge of English. The nearly 7,500 students who attend Salesian schools in Portugal each year will thus have the opportunity to further develop their skills, receiving the conditions for certification of their learning, a process that will culminate in the possibility of obtaining a "C1 Advanced" level in English. All teachers shall also have the opportunity to see their training strengthened through various programs to be developed regularly, beginning this current school year.

(ANS - Jakarta) – The COVID-19 pandemic has made us aware of the importance of taking care of the earth. When we attempt to reduce air pollution that is coming from factory smoke and vehicles, the sky becomes brighter and cleaner and the air we breathe becomes healthier. Another way to reduce earth pollution is by reducing organic waste. It is said that organic waste can be decomposed in nature. While this claim is true to some extent, the excessive amount of organic waste that is not managed properly will only bring disaster to the earth and its living being. But, the good news is that organic waste from the kitchen can be a blessing. It comes in the form of Eco Enzyme.

Biju Michael, the Regional Councillor for South Asia, inaugurated the 10-year action plan for Greening Dimapur Province by the promulgation of “DON BOSCO GREEN PROTOCOL” at 10.30 am on Sunday 6th February 2022 at a green ceremony at the Provincial House, Dimapur. The inauguration comes ahead of his extraordinary visitation of the province of Dimapur as well as marking the centenary of the arrival of the Salesians to Northeast India.

(ANS - Recife) - To better assist young people in situations of social vulnerability, the "St Luigi Gonzaga" Province of Northern Brazil was founded on 20 January 1902, now extended to the North-East of the country and known as the Province of Brazil-Recife (BRE). The Salesian missionary Fr Lorenzo Giordano (1856-1919), former rector of the first Salesian house in that region, was its first Superior.

(ANS - Rome) - On 8 February 2022 exactly 170 years have passed since the signing of the first apprenticeship contract promoted by Don Bosco. To celebrate this anniversary, the Salesians and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, with all the formators of CNOS (National Center for Salesian Works) and CIOFS (Italian Center for Salesian Women's Works) reaffirm the value of apprenticeship, training in the workplace, dual training.
