São Paulo, Brazil - 1897 - This ancient image, dating back to 1897 and belonging to the provincial archive of the Province of Brazil-São Paulo, portrays an exhibition in which handicraft works were exhibited, work produced by the students of the “Sacred Heart of Jesus” secondary school of São Paulo during vocational courses. Photography is part of the vast online collection of MOSB, the Museum of Salesian Work in Brazil, which can also be visited through Google Arts & Culture.

Barcelona, Spain - 1911 - In 1911, the crypt of the current Tibidabo shrine was inaugurated in the presence of then Rector Major Fr. Paolo Albera. A few days after the inauguration, the latter was named "Expiatory and National Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus"; a decision made as part of the XXII International Eucharistic Congress, which was held in Madrid at the end of June 1911.

Rome, Italy - 1960s - In this black and white photograph, dating back to the early 1960s and kept in the archives of the Salesian Pontifical University, it is possible to see how the building site of the Pontifical Salesian Athenaeum, in Rome's Nuovo Salario neighborhood, looked at the time. The Athenaeum was in fact transferred to Rome in the first half of the 1960s in order to unify all the Faculties in one location for better mutual collaboration.

Lisbon, Portugal - 1906 - In 1906, Fr. Michele Rua made his second trip to Portugal, on the occasion of the inauguration of the new headquarters of the "Oficinas de São José." As can be seen from this old photograph, during the trip, don Rua also had the opportunity to visit the "Sacred Heart" Institute in the Laranjeiras neighborhood of Lisbon.
