Featured

22 June 2017

(ANS - Cotonou) - At the Summit on Sustainable Development, which took place in September 2015, UN member states adopted Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, which includes a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 "specific targets". The "Solidaridad Don Bosco" NGO educates children, teenagers, young people to change the way they see life, under the motto: "the secret of a better world." And who are the recipients of its activities? The boys and girls of Benin.

The educational proposal aims to create opportunities and educational processes and awareness-raising. Various activities are carried out to raise awareness to this purpose.

On 13 June, "Solidaridad Don Bosco", together with the Brotherhood of Mary Help of Christians of La Palma del Condado, inaugurated the exhibition "Improving the care of children and street children in Cotonou (Benin)", a path across 11 panels that present the work of welcoming, accompaniment, support , social and family reintegration carried out by NGOs and by Salesians with the street children and teens of Cotonou.

In Cadiz, instead, the traditional "verbena" (popular festival) - which attracted all citizens - was also accompanied this year by a charity fund devoted to projects developed by Solidaridad Don Bosco and, especially, the Project: "Sowing opportunities. For the education and promotion of women in Burkina Faso."

At the same time, with the end of the school year, various activities related to the "The secret of a Better World" educational campaign were carried out.

Both students and primary school teachers sought to expand their own personal vision of the current state of affairs. Through drawings, story-telling, analysis of advertising, and numerous other methods, children reflected on how to put an end to poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and tackle climate change ... and so they analyzed, with a global look, their day-to-day existence.

The result was of great value, with murals and drawings from simple and clear ideas, creative videos ... a sign that when children are motivated and supported in their desire to act and do, they always surprise us all.
