(ANS - Ferrara) - "Since the Oratory was the first of Don Bosco's initiatives, and the kind of initiative on which all the others are modeled, this combination of "catechesis and play" has been passed on to almost all the Salesian works. There is not even one Salesian school that does not, at least as a complementary activity, have recreational and sporting activities." Thus wrote Fr Juan E. Vecchi, VIII Successor of Don Bosco, in describing the Salesian's inherent attention to the world of sports. Attention from which sports teams, minor league and Serie A teams, amateur and pro players, emerged and came into being.

(ANS – Rome) – I experienced many times, that even four years after the gift of Pope Francis' prophetic letter ‘The Joy of the Gospel’ (November 2013), many faithful within the worldwide Catholic community are still not aware about the full shape of his ‘Project - Dream’ about the Church in its state of permanent mission, that is, reaching out, especially to the poor. So we were glad with the announcement of the First World Day of the Poor (Sunday - November 19, 2017).

(ANS - Catania) – In going to visit the young enclosed inside a penitentiary, accompanying them in the various activities that take place inside - at school, at recess, in the workshops, at the catechism or in the church for Mass – what is fundamental for a chaplain, as for an educator, is to: "bring mercy."

(ANS – Lahore) – "The blood of martyrs is the seed of new Christians," said Tertullian in the second century AD. This "miracle" is also being renewed in Lahore, Pakistan, thanks to the sacrifice of Akash Bashir, the young Salesian past pupil who on March 15, 2015, lost his life by embracing a suicide bomber to prevent him from entering the church of Saint John in Youhannabad, Lahore's Christian quarter. Fr Francis Gulzar, parish priest of that same church, gives his testimony.
