(ANS – K’Long) – Among the 60 participants of the second EAO Salesian Family delegates formation meeting, in K’Long, Vietnam, there were very many first-learners. The participants come from Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar and Japan.

The 3-day program was animated by a variety of high profile resource persons, like the World Coordinator of the Salesian Cooperators (Mrs Noemi Bertola from Italy), the World President of the VDB (Ms. Olga Krizova from Slovakia), the Delegate of the RM for the Salesian Family (Fr Eusebio Munoz) and his team - Fr Guiseppe Casti (World Delegate ASC), Fr Pier Luigi Cameroni (World Spiritual Animator ADMA, and SDB General Postulator) and Fr Joan Lluis Playa (Central Assistant for the VDB - CDB).

The first day, 20 November, started with a Eucharist presided by the Vietnam-Mongolia Provincial Fr Joseph Quang The day was dedicated to the study of the SF Charter of Identity (2012) and presentation of Salesian Cooperators, Don Bosco Past Pupils and ADMA by their respective World Delegates. The presence of the Lay members of the SF was always very helpful for the deeper awareness of the consecrated SDB and FMA about their animation role. One of the Delegates put the matter in a very clear way: “In our times when the numbers of consecrated men and women is rapidly diminishing in most of the Salesian world, our commitment for the growth and animation of many growing Salesian Family groups is not optional - it's the only way to the future!”

Personal experience can be summed up in these enthusiastic terms: “at the beginning I wished to know more about the Salesian Family and I am very satisfied for not only do I know the Salesian Family, but I have become passionate and enthusiastic for its growth. All Material (documents and visual presentation) and Resource persons (lectures, witnesses and interviews) were very satisfactory. It was really very good. We were divided for most of the time into two groups (English speaking and Vietnamese speaking) to avoid unnecessary waste of time in translation. At the end of these days I have become a believer in the Salesian Family, which I believe is a gift and a responsibility. So I will try my best to put on fire also the confreres in Myanmar with the fire of love for the Salesian Family. It is wonderful to talk about the Salesian Family in the real setting and environment of SF (SDBs, FMAs, VDBs, Salesian Cooperators, Salesian Past Pupils and so on). And of course I dream that all Superiors (Provincials and Rectors) and Formators from the Pre-novitiate on should be invited to participate in the next formation meeting.”

At the end of the meeting all participants became very enthusiastic about the building of the Salesian Family, and each province and delegation presented their “Action Plan 2016-2019” with concrete resolutions at the personal, local, provincial and regional level.

The last Good Night Talk on 22 November was entrusted to Mr Philip Yu, the World Councilor ASC for the EAO region. He spoke about the “Happy Vocation” movement launched in Hong Kong and Macau two years ago.
