Italy - XIII edition of Family Animators Workshops Ends

30 August 2017

(ANS - Castellammare di Stabia) - For the thirteenth year, Cerchi D'Onda, a not-for-profit association, has hosted and completed a workshop for family animators (SFAF). Taking place in Castellammare di Stabia, there were 253 participants, circa one hundred being children, with 21 young people involved in the animation team itself. The School received the patronage of the Family Pastoral Office of the Diocese of Rome, the Association of Salesian Cooperators (ASC) and the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS).

The week-long program, which began on August 19, featured workshops, formation sessions for couples and the family, insights into the spirituality of the family with the help of "Amoris Laetitia", and animation for the children curated by the youths of the animation team. Senior high school and university students, with the support of M. Cristina Rossi and Giancarlo Cursi, both teachers from the Institute of UPS Social Pedagogy, animators working on family solidarity, and Fr Giovanni D'Andrea all lived the experience of providing support with the Caritas of Castellammare di Stabia.

The families present were able to meet and together live moments of formation and spirituality, questioning themselves and reflecting on their being couples and families.

"This year's edition was not an exception for both the number of participants and the profundity reached in the various workshops, for the intensity of the spiritual life with which each moment distinguished itself," said Fr Mario Oscar Llanos, SDB, President of Cerchi d'Onda, and Deacon at the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS). "The participants joyfully underscored the professionalism of their teachers and the talks, the quality of mutual acceptance and welcome, and the validity of the experience within set objectives. The school organization has over the years acquired a robust consistency and remarkable effectiveness.

Psychologists and psychotherapists led four sessions: "Speak to understand each other: Educating oneself for more Effective Communication," with Claudia Magliocchetti and Maurizio Maltese; "Building and Maintaining Effective Relationships," with Mara Scoliere; "Being a Couple: Empirically Growing and Tuning in to Children's Education," with Maria Gioia Milizia; "Taking Care of Oneself to Prevent Stress," with Raffaele Mastromarino.

Guiding the spritual moments were Sr. Leslie Sandigo, FMA and world delegate for ASC, and Fr Llanos.

Along with the formation sessions, there were also four workshops: "Family Pastoral and Methodology of Family Pastoral," with Fr Mario Oscar Llanos, Ruggiero Diella and Loredana Simeone; "Adolescence, Affection and Sexuality ... and Parents?," with M.R. Bagnati, M.G. Mazzau, M.A. Cozzolino; "#socialguide to living happily and connected," with Bruno Mastroianni; "And what if we laughed about it? Humor in the Life of the Couple," with M.G. Milizia.
