(ANS - Rome) - On the second day of the seminar for the promotion of the causes of beatification and canonization in the Salesian Family (SF), yesterday, 11 April, Salesian Cardinal Angelo Amato, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, illustrated the value and necessity of miracles in the causes of beatification and canonization.

The Gospels and Acts of the Apostles present us with the miracles of Jesus and, by analogy, those of the apostles, as signs of redemption - for example, said the Cardinal, 31% of the verses of the Gospel of Mark are narratives of miracles. These are the work of God's power, divine charity, advent of the kingdom of God. The very rich presence of holiness in the history of the Church shows how "the finger of God" is tangibly present in the miracles that occur through the intercession of the saints. "The verification of the miracles, which the Lord grants via the intercession of his faithful servant, constitutes an indispensable premise for the recognition of his holiness on the part of the Church," he added.

They are not events that go against the laws of nature, but go beyond, often bringing our nature back to its original call to the fullness of life, like the many healings.

In the second part of the morning, Fr Pierluigi Cameroni, Postulator General for the Causes of Saints of the SF, presented in 14 points the path of postulation between 2016 and 2018: an impressive path for the beauty of the testimonies, and striking for the originality and the uniqueness of each.

The Postulator General emphasized that the path that accompanies the process of beatification and canonization is similarly unique and very original, because of the people involved, the life stories, the evangelical and Salesian values that flourish around each figure; to this regard, he shared numerous concrete, solid and innovative indications, fruit of different experiences, in the belief that it is possible to learn from one another. Many of these ideas are oriented to the animation and to the involvement of the faithful as there is no path of holiness that is not at the same time a path of the Church.

In the afternoon, after a talk on the topic of "medical-legal evaluation and discussion" in the procedure for ascertaining miracles, by Fr Bogusław Turek, CSMA, Undersecretary of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, there was time for group work by linguistic areas when many of the ideas presented in the morning were shared, analyzed, debated.
