(ANS - Santo Domingo) - In the first week of December, the Salesian Schools Network, belonging to the Salesian Province of the Antilles, held their first "Good Pedagogical and Pastoral Practices Fair", to make known and strengthen the best examples of pedagogical and pastoral activities carried out in Salesian schools, promote significant learning and exchanging promising experiences between schools on the Net and their teachers.

The good practices presented are nothing more than experiences able to represent principles of intervention, procedures and work objectives considered adequate and consistent with the norms and which demonstrate efficacy and usefulness in the school environment and in the development of meaningful learning. These are activities that require processes, dedication and time; for this reason, it is essential to share them so that they can become usual educational processes in the different Salesian works.

In this first edition, 12 good practices were presented in the Salesian Educational Centers of Santo Domingo, Barahona, Moca, Jarabacoa, La Vega and Santiago.

The opening ceremony took place at the "Don Bosco Center" in Santo Domingo and included a presentation by Ernesto Diaz, Academic Director of "512 / Liderazgo y Gestión", who presented "The importance of sharing good practices for strengthening the quality of education."

On its second day, the fair offered the opportunity to visit each of the stands where significant examples of the best pedagogical and pastoral practices of the selected schools were exhibited.

Among the criteria taken into consideration for the selection of good practices presented were: innovation, strategies used, consultation, impact, evaluation and effectiveness, sustainability, as well as the ability to act as a guide or model for other sectors and similar contexts.

On the same day, there was a conference for teachers held by Mrs Gladys Milena Vargas, from Colombia, an educational consultant and formator of formators, who spoke on "How to structure good practices so that they can be replicated."

The fair was considered a success thanks to the commitment and work of all the people involved: students, teachers, parents, school management and, above all, the "Institutions and Companies" group.
