RMG –Intermediate Plenary Session of the General Council

– This morning the work began of the Intermediate Plenary Session of the General Council. The agenda is short, but one outstanding item is the subject of the next General Chapter to be held in 2014.
26/3/2012 - RMG – Meeting of the International Theological and Salesian Pastoral Team
(ANS – Rome) – Called together by the Youth Ministry Department, between 23 and 25 March twelve Salesians from various Regions came to the Generalate to draw up a theological reflection as part of the final stage in the process of Rethinking Salesian Youth Ministry: updating the “Fundamental Frame of Reference. Salesian Youth Ministry.”
26/3/2012 - China – The Salesian Family on the increase in numbers and in spirit
(ANS – Hong Kong) – Between 16 and 18 March in Hong Kong there were two events which strengthened the presence of the Salesian spirit: a retreat for the lay personnel of the Salesian schools and the promise of the new Salesians-Cooperators.
26/3/2012 - Ecuador – The “Juscelino Kubitschek” Award for the Project of the “Chicos de la Calle” Foundation
(ANS – Guayaquil) – On Sunday 18 March, Fr Francisco Sánchez, Director General of the Project “Chicos de la Calle” Foundation in Guayaquil, went to Montevideo, in Uruguay, to receive the “Juscelino Kubitschek” Award for Regional Development in Latin America and the Caribbean, in the “Society, Culture and Science” category. It was presented by Dr. Luis Alberto Moreno, President of the Interamerican Bank for Development (BID, in Spanish).

León, Mexico – 24 March 2012 – During the pastoral visit by Pope Benedict XVI to Mexico, his Secretary of State, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone SDB in the middle of his packed programme was able to spent a short time with some Salesian confreres. Having said how pleased he was to be in Mexico again, on this occasion accompanying the Holy Father, Cardinale Bertone sent a message to all the members of the Salesian Family in Mexico promising them his prayers.
