1/5/2013- RMG – Salesian Saints of the month of May
(ANS – Roma) – Fr Pierluigi Cameroni, Postulator General of the Salesian Family, introduces the figures of Salesian holiness who are remembered in the month of May.
30/4/2013- Democratic Republic of Congo – Salesian Games 2013
(ANS – Lubumbashi) – Young people from all the Salesian centres in the province of Katanga, as well as those from parishes run by the Salesians, are taking part in the 2013 tournament of the Salesian Games at the playing fields of Boys’ Town in Lubumbashi. The programme started ten days ago and will finish tomorrow.
30/4/2013- Turkey – Wroclaw Lyceum takes part in National Parks of Europe programme
(ANS – Ankara) – From 7 to 14 April, a group of students and teachers from the Salesian Lyceum in Wroclaw, Poland, travelled to Ankara for a meeting that was part of the National Parks of Europe programme, organized by the Comenius Project. Also taking part were representatives of other scholastic institutes in Bulgaria, Italy, Hungary and Croatia.
30/4/2013- Sierra Leone – Don Bosco Fambul: stop sexual abuse and rape
(ANS – Freetown) – On the occasion of a press conference, on 19 April, the Salesian Brother Lothar Wagner presented the annual report of the Girls Shelter. Since the Girls Shelter was opened, two years ago, 521 crisis interventions have been carried out including follow-up care for girls and young women who have experienced violence.
29/4/2013- Spain – Cultural and Religious Diversity, a Challenge for the Pastoral Ministry of the Salesian Family
(ANS – Madrid) – Representatives of schools, parishes, youth centres, and social platforms of the Salesian Family, more than 50 people, members of different groups of the Salesian Family, met from 19 to 21 April at Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, to discuss the reality of cultural and religious diversity in Salesian environments, to propose lines of action and good practice for evangelization, and to analyze the implication for ministry in the Salesian Family.
29/4/2013- Poland – Meeting of the Conference of Salesian Provinces
(ANS – Warsaw) – From 21 to 24 April, the house of the Mission Procure in Warsaw hosted a meeting of the Conference of Salesian Provinces of Poland (KSIP). Since September 2012 the Salesians of Russia and Belarus, as well as those in Ukraine who are of the Latin Rite, belong to KSIP. The meeting was presided over by Fr Marek Chrzan, the Regional Councillor for Northern Europe. The four provincials from Poland took part, together with their Vice-Provincials, Provincial Economers, and Delegates for Youth Ministry, Salesian Family and Social Communications.
29/4/2013- Burkina Faso – Inauguration of Don Bosco Social and Cultural Centre, Ougadougou
(ANS – Ougadougou) – The Don Bosco Social and Cultural Centre was inaugurated in Ougadougou, capital of Burkina Faso, on Saturday 27 April. This event marks an important stage in the development of the Salesian work and the planting of the charism in the country.
26/4/2013- Australia – “Joy” in OzBosco 2013
(ANS – Chadstone) – OzBosco is getting bigger and better each year with more fun, activities, liturgical moments, inspiring talks and increasing number of young people. It is run by young people, for young people in the spirit of St John Bosco. OzBosco 2013 was celebrated in style from 19th – 21st April at Salesian College Chadstone in Victoria.
26/4/2013- Malta – Young Volunteers become Social Entrepreneurs to fight Youth Unemployment
(ANS – Sliema) – “Transforming Voluntarism into Social Entrepreneurship” was a 7-day training course organised by Don Bosco Youth-Net, held from the 31st of March till the 7th of April at the Salesian Youth Centre in Sliema, Malta. It aimed at motivating young volunteers in taking initiative to develop their own solutions for problems faced by young people in the EU today.
26/4/2013- Italy – Everyone has a right to meet Jesus
(ANS – Cerignola) – The Rector Major, Fr Pascual Chávez, on a visit to the Province of Southern Italy (IME) for the Feast of the Provincial Community, reminded young people that everyone has a right to meet Jesus. The Rector Major took part in two meetings that were marked by a sense of gratitude and celebration, as well as reflections shared with young people and members of the Salesian Family.
