Burundi - Salesians of Rukago support fight against COVID-19

Rukago, Burundi - July 2020 - The Salesians of the parish of Rukago continue in the fight against the spread of COVID-19, which has become a priority for the government since the new President was elected democratically: Évariste Ndayishimiye. With financial support from the Salesian Mission Office of Poland, the Salesians of Rukago, in collaboration with the health district of Gahombo, organized an awareness session for school principals and teachers' representatives and provided hand-washing points for 8 churches, 5 schools and the Don Bosco Oratory. Also, they provided food for vulnerable families, in particular for the Pygmy population. Fr Raphael Katanga, Economer of the Salesian work in Rukago, explained that the new President has strengthened the fight against COVID-19 and fully supports any initiative. The parish has carried out a widespread prevention campaign on COVID-19. The Salesians of Rukago thanked the Salesian Mission Office of Poland and the Planning and Development Office of the Africa Great Lakes Vice Province (AGL) for their support.
