(ANS - Ciudad de Guatemala) - The National Council for the Salesian Family in Guatemala, in the Central American Province (CAM), has organized a Salesian Virtual Congress on Don Bosco for the 205th anniversary of his birth (Sunday 16 August). The congress, which begins today, Thursday 13 August, and lasts until Saturday 15 August, features various speakers who will offer their reflections in the context of the theme of the Rector Major's Strenna for the current year: “GOOD CHRISTIANS AND UPRIGHT CITIZENS.”

The meeting of the Congress has aroused great interest among the members of the Salesian Family, the parents of Salesian pupils and many ordinary sympathizers and followers of Don Bosco's work. The reflections are held by members of the Salesian Family and also include the Eucharist and Eucharistic Adoration at the beginning and at the end of the Congress, presided over by Fr Oscar Rodriguez Blanco, National Delegate for the Salesian Family in Guatemala.

“We believe that rediscovering, deepening and reliving the Salesian charism will help all the followers of Don Bosco and our young people to be 'good Christians and upright citizens' especially in these times when we are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in all our nations. We want evangelical values to lead us to internalize a life program at the service of others and to have a commitment to honesty in all social spheres. We have entrusted the pastoral success of this congress to Mary Help of Christians and our holy founder Don Bosco,” explained the congress organizers.

The Congress is broadcast live via social networks: Facebook “Colegio Salesiano Don Bosco de Guatemala” ; “Familia Salesiana en Guatemala” and YouTube “Congreso Virtual Salesiano 2020”.
