03 September 2020

(ANS - La Paz) - In a moment of great difficulty for the world of education, the academic community of the Salesian University of Bolivia (USB) has analyzed the challenges and planned the opportunities lying ahead, with special reference to the different options offered by the digital world and always with a view to dealing with what is most important to its mission: their university students. In this process, the decision to sign an agreement with the Bolivian mobile phone company "TELECEL S.A." to provide mobile access to the Internet through the PaqueTigo, TeleEducación and PaqueTigo Teletrabajo products for the exclusive use of students, teachers and staff of the university, to enable cooperating in the work of digital education.

The telephone company shall offer a 20% discount on its Telework and Teleeducation tariff plans, depending on the number of lines contracted. For those belonging to the Salesian educational institution it will be possible to take advantage of free MegaBytes for the use of platforms such as ZOOM, WEBEX, MEET and TEAMS, and with different options and durations for use.

The discount will be applied only to the user registered on the platforms and for browsing within it, and the mega not used on the platforms within a month will remain available for the next two months. For its part, the university will check the correspondence of users/students twice a month.

And if for its part, the telephone company reaffirms its commitment to the education of Bolivians, through this alliance to optimize online training, for the Grand Chancellor of the USB and Provincial of Salesian Bolivia, Fr Juan Pablo Zabala Tórrez, SDB, the crisis produced by the pandemic has changed everyone's life, but the Salesians cannot, of course, abandon their goals: rather, it is time to reach and achieve them in ways never imagined before.

Inserted into that dynamic, Fr Zabala Tórrez said, “the challenge of staying connected to maintain educational communication stimulates us to continue to see alternatives, which on the one hand encourage teachers to continue to reinvent themselves, and on the other push us, above all, to to continue in the work of forming competent professionals and good Christians.”
