“Thanks to all our partners for the good cooperation in the past year and the trustful atmosphere to donors, partners and relief organizations,” says Dr. Nelson Penedo, Head of Don Bosco Mission. “I would like to explicitly thank our partner organization Don Bosco Mondo, also located in Bonn, for the good and trustful cooperation.” Dr. Penedo announced that he would like to cooperate with Don Bosco Mondo even more closely in the future.
The funds generated are slightly less compared to the previous year, as fundraising is becoming increasingly difficult due to the decline in church ties and other social developments.
In addition to project-funding abroad, the sending of 23 young adults as volunteers is an important pillar of the Salesian charism at Don Bosco Mission Bonn. Fr Josef Grünner SDB thanked all Salesians and Sisters who enable young people to have this experience and who took care of them during their one-year service, especially this year when the premature termination - due to COVID-19 - caused a lot of chaos.
The Mission Office is looking forward to next year, when hopefully the Beethoven Moves! project with youth from Medellín coming to Bonn reaches its fever pitch. The 5th symphony concert, which had to be postponed by one year, will take place with the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn in August 2021.
