"There are many martyrs today, they are more than the martyrs of the first centuries," said Pope Francis at the end of April this year in his catechesis dedicated to the Christian Beatitudes.

From the annual report of the non-profit organization "Porte Aperte / Open Doors" it emerges that:

In at least 73 nations, Christians experience a high level of persecution;
Last year, 2,983 Christians were killed;
Nigeria remains the country most at risk. Central African Republic and Sri Lanka follow;
In Sri Lanka, 350 people died in the Easter Day attacks in 2019.
