Italy - Civil Service with Salesians for Social Affairs: 1,250 places available for Italy and abroad

24 December 2020

(ANS - Rome) - There will be about 1,250 young people aged between 18 and 29 who this year will be able to fulfill their Universal Civil Service in the projects presented by Salesians for Social Aps. This is the highest number ever and a big thank you for the result achieved goes to the staff at the national headquarters and at the regional levels for their commitment to the work of planning and design.

The projects envisage the involvement of young people especially in the educational and welfare fields, which will allow them to put themselves at the service of local communities, experimenting with paths of personal growth and maturation.

The Civil Service is an original experience of Italy that manages to combine the non-violent defense of the country with youth leadership and education for solidarity.

The decree identifying the Universal Civil Service projects funded for the year 2020 published by the Department for Youth Policies and Universal Civil Service, will allow us to implement:

- 74 projects in the ordinary call for proposals to be carried out in Italy for 1,077 participants;
- 14 projects in the “Garanzia Giovani” call for a total of 132 participants;
- 5 projects in the ordinary call for proposals to be carried out abroad (Spain, France, Albania) for a total of 51 places.

"Living the Civil Service in the coming months will help Italy to restart, not only to prepare for the future but to prepare the future especially for those engaged in the education of young people," explains Fr Roberto Dal Molin, president of Salesians Social APS.

The call for aspiring volunteers will be published in the next few days. Young people will be able to apply exclusively online by connecting to the DOL platform on the site https://domandaonline.serviziocivile.it

Access to the platform for Italian citizens residing in Italy or abroad must take place exclusively with SPID, the Public Digital Identity System.

It is therefore important that all young people interested in universal civil service who do not yet have SPID take action immediately to acquire their digital identity, to be ready when the call is published. Once the call is published, all the information necessary for correct submission of the application is available on the website www.serviziocivile.gov.it and www.salesianiperilsociale.it
