18 March 2021

Vitória, Brazil - March 2021 - On 12 March the Salesian presence in Vitória inaugurated a mural representing Don Bosco's nine-year dream, created by the artist Iury Borel. The spray-painted mural represents on one side the little Don Bosco who sleeps and dreams, on the other the adult Don Bosco who teaches young people the craft of a shoemaker, with Michele Magone, Francesco Besucco and Domenico Savio representing all the young people who today, through education, see their life transformed. A fully restored bust of Don Bosco was also placed during the inauguration. Fr Marcelo Vicente de Paula, SDB, Director of the Salesian presence in Vitória, blessing the new space said: “For us Salesians, art is fundamental, and it is also a source of education. Don Bosco used music, dance and theater to express himself.” According to the Rector of the "UniSales" University of Vitória, prof. Cledson Rodrigues, this mural represents the history of Vitória's work: "This work is perpetuated because we, educators, give continuity to Don Bosco's dreams."
