Moderated by the Vice Director of the DBTA, Salesian Brother John Njuguna, the seminar brought together numerous "Job Service Offices" (JSO) from different Provinces of Africa.
The event was officially opened by the Executive Director of the DBTA, Fr TJ George, who reminded the participants that the goal of the Vocational Training Centers is always to equip students with new skills, so that they can improve their quality of life. "At the end of their courses, graduates need to be able to go out into the field and be productive and be job creators," said Fr TJ George.
Furthermore, he recalled that the training manual, created three years ago, now, requires a revision to deal-with and face the new challenges posed by current times. He then underlined the importance of JSOs, hoping they can be an integral part of every institution. Finally, he invited the participants to be proud of the work they are doing because they are shaping the future of young people.
In his concluding remarks, Bro. John Njuguna thanked the participants for their efforts and commitment during the meeting and reminded them that: "what we do today is what leads us to what we will do in the future." Subsequently, he focused on the five key processes identified during the workshop: preparing young people to transition from school to the labor market, seeking opportunities for graduates, carrying out a process of pre-entry and entry into the world of work and, finally, giving an evaluation to see if the work done is bearing fruit. He then urged the participants to apply the lessons they have learned.
