Peru - A Church with an Amazonian face

Kuyuntsa, Peru - October 2021 - The ordination of two permanent deacons, Mashinkiash Shirap Chau and Timias Timias Uwiti, was celebrated at the Achuar Mission of Kuyuntsa, where the Salesian Fr Bolla spent his last 30 years of missionary life and where he is buried. In addition, the ministries were entrusted to two exorcists and seven ministers of the Eucharist. The ordination, celebrated entirely in Achuar language and rite, was presided over by the apostolic vicar of Yurimaguas, Msgr. Jesús María Aristín CP, accompanied by Fr Diego Clavijo and Fr Agustinus Togo who are the Salesian missionaries who accompany the Achuar people and animate the Achuar Inter-Vicarial Ministerial Border Training Center in Peru and Ecuador. Others such as Fr Hugo Orozco, Councilor for the Interamerica Region, visiting the Salesian missions; Fr José Kamza, and the Salesian Brother José Gallego, from the missionary community of “St Lawrence”, and Fr Vicente Santilli were also present. They were also joined by four other permanent deacons who joyfully welcomed their new fellow ministers.
