Brazil - National Forum of Good Practices for 2030 Agenda

14 December 2021

(ANS - Brasilia) - The National Forum of Good Practices for the 2030 Agenda is an event of the "Selo Social" Institute (Social Seal, in Portuguese), promoted by the Salesian Network of Brazil (RSB) and the Levvo Institute, designed to present and share projects carried out by Brazilian companies, civil society organizations, and public agencies that are in line with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year the Forum saw the direct participation of the Director General of the Salesian Network in Brazil; also, both the RSB and the Salesian School of Brasilia have been recognized with the “Social Seal” for their initiatives.

The forum took place on Tuesday 30 November entirely online; during the third session of the event, called "Socially Just", the Executive Director of the RSB, sr. Silvia Aparecida da Silva, of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA), moderated a round table during which several successful cases from various realities from all over the country were presented.

“We live in difficult times. It has never been so important to join forces in the search for concrete answers to address the guarantee of rights. How can we join forces? We have an impactful phrase that motivates us in the Salesian Network of Brazil: 'Ideas happen through networks'. This speaks to us of the importance of creating connection points for good. The Social Seal has played this role: to create connection points for good. The creation of the 2030 Agenda is not an isolated idea, but rather a collaborative effort to address an agenda of challenges. The projects presented here want to contribute to the realization of these challenges," these, on the occasion, the words of Sister da Silva.

Furthermore, in this 2021, the Salesian School of Brasilia (ESB, in Portuguese) has received a certificate of recognition from the Institute of the Social Seal for its project "Aldeia que Educa" (A village that educates), which already from the name makes its own the proposal of Pope Francis for the Global Educational Pact, where it takes up the evaluation of the Pontiff who states: "It is necessary to build a village of education where, in diversity, the commitment to generate a network of human and open relationships is shared." In view of this aim, the ESB project is committed to identifying and creating solutions that encourage solidarity, respect and commitment to the Common Home, stimulating critical thinking and breaking stereotypes, enhancing and motivating educators, families and all social actors so that each may be effective protagonists and agents in this “village that educates”.

Finally, the RSB also received a Social Seal certificate in 2021 in the “Civil Society” category. In this way, it repeated the success of 2020, when it had obtained its first certification for its four projects related to four different SDGs: for Health and Wellness (n° 3), Quality Education (n° 4 ), responsible Consumption and Production (n° 12) and Collaborations and Implementation (n° 17).
