Estoril, Portugal - January 2022 - Two Salesian alumni from Estoril, Frederico Stock and Francisco Neto Nogueira, have created a medical device that helps detect breast cancer early. The "SenseGlove" device from "Glooma" is a glove with sensors that aids in regular breast self-examination, with a recording via an app. The app saves the recordings and reminds the person to perform the regular screening at home; if it then detects changes to the breast tissue, the app issues an alert with a recommendation to see a doctor. The project started in 2021 and is receiving a lot of attention and raising many expectations among technological innovations in the service of health: in fact, it received an award at the "Portugal Digital Awards" and the best startup award at the "Altice Innovation Award"; it was among the four finalists of the "Prémios Hintt" and was presented at last year's "Web Summit". "SenseGlove" is under development and the first units are expected to be available in October 2022.
