Spain - 125 years of Salesian presence in Barakaldo
Barakaldo, Spain - January 2022 - As part of the celebrations for St. John Bosco, on 29 January the Salesian Family of Barakaldo began the celebrations for three anniversaries of its centers: 125 years of presence of the Salesians in Barakaldo, 80 years of presence of the Salesians in Cruces, and 75 years of presence of the FMA. The Eucharist was presided over by Msgr. Joseba Segura, Bishop of Bilbao, who thanked God for the opportunity to celebrate together this long history of commitment and service of the Salesian Family in Barakaldo. Accompanying the bishop to the altar were also Fr Fernando García, Provincial of the "St James the Greater" Province (SSM), Fr Óscar Bartolomé, in charge of the Salesian Schools, the rectors of the Salesian houses Fr Mikel Uriarte (Barakaldo) and Fr David Villahoz (Cruces), together with Salesians from Barakaldo and priests from the diocese. Representing the FMA was the director of the Center, Sr. María Jesús Iracheta, members of various Salesian communities, representatives of the Salesian Family groups, and educators.
