Italy – Ukraine Past Pupils Appeal for Prayers and Support

04 March 2022

(ANS – Rome) – The World Confederation of Past Pupils of Don Bosco is in contact with the past pupils in Lviv in Ukraine who are currently enduring a difficult time.  The past pupils are involved in supporting the Salesian work in Lviv as well as involved in working in organizing the Ukrainian Educational Platform that are currently helping refugees from cities that suffered the most.

The World Confederation wishes to share one of the messages from one of our Past Pupils in Lviv:

We are grateful for support and solidarity in these tough times! I really think we now defend what are our common European values, democratic values, thus it’s really important that we feel the support from all over the world today.

We are safe in Lviv for now and are trying do our best to support those affected more seriously.

We would really appreciate you sharing this information with those who would like to help the Ukrainian people.  Please pray for Ukraine. Organize a joint prayer for Ukraine in your church, community, or family. Prayer is the only thing we can be sure of at this time.

The President of the World Confederation of Don Bosco, Mr. Bryan Magro, last week issued an appeal for Unity and Peace stating that “Life, Truth, Freedom are the values embraced by the past pupils and friends of Don Bosco around the world. As a movement of committed citizens of the world, we declare our belief in justice, solidarity, and peace. War is not a solution. Attacking civilians is never the answer. We ask political leaders to shoulder their responsibility and respect life and human dignity, and to work together to achieve peace and unity.”

Meanwhile, the Italian National Federation of Past Pupils has also launched an appeal for donations to support the refugees arriving in Lviv.
