Sierra Leone - Young people as ambassadors of the "Don Bosco Climate Club"

08 March 2022

Lungi, Sierra Leone - March 2022 - The Salesian Fr Philip Gbao, from the Salesian house in Lungi, has launched an initiative called "Don Bosco Climate Club", aimed at the country's young people to promote the value of care for creation and protection of nature, habitat and hygiene. The initiative involved young people of all ages, from school children to youth centers and neighboring communities. The ecological problems of Sierra Leone are the same as all over the world: plastic pollution of the sea and beaches, the burning of waste and garbage, the indiscriminate felling of trees. The "Don Bosco Climate Club" has undertaken various bold and decisive campaigns to convey the value of respect for the environment to its participants. In addition, it has many educational programs for its students, which offer them the advantage of being able to enter universities.
