In the May issue of the missionary bulletin "Cagliero11", the forum "The Popes and the Saints" was published, which analyzes some statistics on canonizations.

From 1593 to today, 1936 saints have been proclaimed, in 174 ceremonies.
Pope Francis has proclaimed, since 2013, 899: more than the Popes of the last 421 years.
He is followed by St. John Paul II with 483 and Leo XIII with 149.

Women
Innocent XII proclaimed two women and no men as saints;
Benedict XV two women and one man;
Pius XII, 17 women and 17 men.

The other pontiffs, however, proclaimed more men saints than women, or only men.

Martyrs
94.5% of the saints proclaimed by Pope Francis are martyrs.
For John Paul II, the martyrs are 83.2%; for Paul VI, 79.1%.
