Indonesia - Fr Joseph Phuoc visits Salesian community of Sumba: a variety of apostolic works

Sumba Island, Indonesia - April 2022 - On April 26, during his visit to the Salesian Vice-Province of Indonesia (INA), Fr Joseph Phuoc, Councilor for the Region of East Asia-Oceania, arrived in Sumba Island, accompanied by Fr Lino Quintao Freitas Assis, Vicar of INA. Arriving in the "St. John Bosco" community of Sumba, the two were welcomed with traditional dances and songs and a welcome speech. The Salesian community of Sumba consists of a variety of works of apostolate: a Higher Technical School, a Vocational Training Center (VTC), a boarding school, and a formation house for aspirants and pre-novices. There are currently 7 Salesians, with 2 aspirants and 3 pre-novices. About 130 students attend the High School, 40 the VTC, and 41 the boarding school. Fr Phuoc visited all the works and encouraged the Salesians working there, offered some traditional Salesian "Good Night" and "Good Morning" messages, and lectures for students in formation and Salesians. He also visited the new Technical High School building, to be completed in mid-July 2022.
