The local Salesian school offers high-quality education for domestic Turks, as well as for the people from the Kakuma refugee camp. The greatest challenge concerning education in this community is the rising shortage of teachers. Many teachers are afraid to move to this remote region. The solution will be to build an accommodation facility that will offer those teachers an environment safe enough for them to be able to devote themselves fully to teaching.

From March 3, 2022 to April 27, 2022, the Slovak public could participate in the campaign not only through financial assistance, but also thanks to the activities that the organization offered on its website www.tehlicka.sk and in the accompanying brochure. Thanks to a Slovak public, an amount of EUR 42,081 has been raised over the past two months. The collection to support the construction of an accommodation for teachers lasts until the end of October.

SAVIO is a non-profit organisation based on Salesian style, creating space for solidarity with the poor and improving lives of young people in less developed countries. Through projects, fundraising campaign and volunteering, we help people in difficult life situations. The Tehlička (The Brick) is a regular, nation-wide Slovak event, which has been organized since 2006 during Lent.
