Chile - Chile's Provincial at Provincial Chapter: "Don Bosco wanted us to be dreamers, visionaries and in shirtsleeves"

23 May 2022

Lo Cañas, Chile - May 2022 – After five days of prayer, discernment and work, the Provincial Chapter of the Salesians of Don Bosco of Chile concluded at the Lo Cañas Spirituality Center on 21 May. After the inaugural day, the chapter assembly, divided into groups, worked around the goals, actions and activities proposed for the six priorities established in the Provincial Organic Project (POI), which sets the work horizon for the next six years: Spiritual and Community Life of Salesians of Don Bosco; Formation of Salesians of Don Bosco; Mission with the Youth; Mission with the Laity; Provincial Governance and Animation; and Care for the Environment. "I'm very happy because I believe we had an experience of communion in which we were able to converge very harmoniously on the priorities we set for ourselves," commented Fr Carlo Lira, Provincial of Chile. The POI, made on the basis of the definitions by vote of the Chapter Assembly and on the necessary adjustments to the final document, will allow for "a tool to make the horizon we have set ourselves operational, to move forward in the next six years," explained the Provincial. "Don Bosco wanted us to be dreamers, visionaries, but, at the same time, in our shirtsleeves, that is, committed to fulfilling and building, with the Lord, His kingdom in the midst of the young," concluded Fr Lira.
