Ecuador - New community of Daughters of Divine Savior started in Bomboiza

19 July 2022

Bomboiza, Ecuador - July 2022 - July 17 was a day of great joy at the Salesian Mission in Bomboiza for the opening of a new community of the Daughters of the Divine Savior. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr. Ángel Lazo, Vicar of the Salesian Province of Ecuador (ECU) and Provincial Delegate for the Salesian Family. The Daughters of the Divine Savior arrived in Quito on June 28, 2022, becoming the tenth group of the Salesian Family present in Ecuador. Their pastoral work is the evangelization, education, and human promotion of children and youth and especially of Shuar women. The Institute of the Daughters of the Divine Savior was established on Dec. 24, 1956, in the city of Santo Domingo, El Salvador, and was founded by Salesian Msgr. Pedro Arnoldo Aparicio y Quintanilla, the first bishop of the Diocese of San Vicente. Its charism is based on bringing the message of the Bethlehem Manger to children and youth, especially the poorest and neediest, through Christian education, in the spirit of St. John Bosco. For the Daughters of the Divine Savior who have arrived in Ecuador, this mission is a grace from God to which they have said yes with great joy: "It is a feeling of adventure because we do not know what God will ask of us along the way, but we are certain that He shall always accompany us and that holding His hand we will always say yes to every step we take."
