Italy – Concerts in Basilica Maria Ausiliatrice: International Festival "Artur Schnabel" of young concert performers

25 July 2022

(ANS - Turin) - In the wake of the educational experience of Don Bosco, who passionately affirmed that "an oratory without music is like a body without a soul," the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians, together with the Concert Society of Turin, is organizing the "Arthur Schnabel International Festival of Young Concert Players" on July 28-29 and July 30.

"The festival wants to be a space for the enhancement of young people and the experience of the sacred beauty that music itself conveys," explained Fr. Michele Viviano, Rector of the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians.

Performances will take place according to the following schedule:

THURSDAY, JULY 28

Andrea Pioppo - Piano

Beatrice Vaccari - Soprano

Davide Massacci - Piano

Luca Castiglioni - Piano

FRIDAY, JULY 29

The "Artur Schnabel" international festival is named after the Austrian composer and pianist known for revisiting Schubert sonatas and, even more so, Beethoven sonatas; his 1935 recordings of Ludwig van Beethoven's 32 Sonatas were the world's first, and are considered by many to be the touchstone of Beethoven's interpretation of piano sonatas.
