The celebrations could not lack a religious and solemn character: during the liturgy for the celebration of Don Bosco's birthday, Salesian cleric Fr Szymon Ogórek renewed his religious vows and the Association of Salesian Cooperators grew by five new young members. Meanwhile, on the last day, the feast day of St. Hyacinth, patron of the Krakow Province (PLS) and the Salesian Religious Community of Oświęcim, was celebrated. During the Holy Mass, seminarians Paweł Klasa and Dominik Nowak professed their perpetual vows.
On the same day, the Provincial Council was held, with the admission of pre-novices to the novitiate and a meeting of the superiors of all Salesian houses in the Province, including the brethren from Ukraine. As every year, after the Eucharist, it was time to present awards to the outstanding individuals.
The "Mir" award from the Krakow Province went to Mr. Mieczysław Tuleja, an alumnus of the Salesian Organ School in Przemyśl and later educator of music school teachers and many organists. Mr. Mieczysław was the organist of the Salesian church in Dębniki for almost 60 years.
In addition, Salesians who celebrated their jubilees of perpetual vows and priestly ordination received gifts and letters of congratulations, starting with Salesian Coadjutor Br. Bogdan Majszak's 65th anniversary of profession and Fr. Jan Krawiec's 65th anniversary of priestly ordination, to thanking Fr. Gabriel Stawowy for his 10 years of service as Provincial Economer.
The last act of the packed program was the visit of the Provincial, Councilors, and Rectors to the Auschwitz Museum. Brothers who died during World War II were remembered, a short prayer was recited and a wreath was laid at the Wall of Death. For the organizers, it was a very intense time, but also full of beautiful emotions and experiences.
