India – Province of INM Chennai awaits the Rector Major

(ANS – Chennai) – South Asia region is all set to receive the Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, as he will participate in the celebrations that mark the centenary of the FMA presence in India. This will be followed by a brief visit to the province of Chennai. He will later leave for Goa, to preach the annual retreat to the members of the provincial councils of the South Asia Region.

The Rector Major is scheduled to reach Chennai on the 2nd Sept. He will leave for Vellore on the 3rd Sept. to participate in the Official Centenary Celebrations held at Auxilium College Katpadi, where he will celebrate the Solemn Thanksgiving Mass, and take part in the Cultural programme scheduled the same evening. On 4thSept. at Don Bosco Katpadi he will address the members of the Salesian family of the Vellore region, similarly on 5th Sept. at the Don Bosco Beatitudes Centre, Chennai he will address the members of the Salesian family of Chennai and Pondicherry regions.

The FMA Centenary celebrations in India is to be graced by the presence of the Mother General, Sr. Chiara Cazzuola, the 10th successor of Mother Mazzarello – Co-founder of the Institute from Rome, Italy. She is accompanied by three General Councillors: Sr. Mora Ruth del Pilar, Sr. Borja Runita and Sr. Celine Jacob. All the FMA provincials and many SDB provincials of India are expected to participate in the major celebrations scheduled for 3rd Sept. at Auxilum College, Katpadi.

It is indeed the third visit of Rector Major to the province of Chennai and the youth, Salesians and the Salesian family members eagerly look forward to this visit with great enthusiasm. “Don Bosco is with us”, “Don Bosco comes to INM” are the echoes that resound in the province as all the confreres await this visit of the Rector Major.
