Rector Major Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime presided over the eucharist along with Fr. Biju Michael, the regional of South Asia, the SDB Provincials from Chennai, Trichy, Hyderabad, Fr. I. John Robert, the Diocesan Administrator, Vellore, and hundreds of priests. The Mother General of the FMA, Sr. Cazzuola Chiara, Sr. Borja Runita, General Councillor for youth ministry, Sr. Mora Ruth del Pilar, General Councillor for Missions, Sr. Celine Jacob, Visiting General Councillor and all the past and the present Mother Provincials of FMA in India along with almost eight hundreds of Salesian sisters from various provinces, a few hundreds of college students and the Salesian family members were present to thank the Lord and our Bl. Mother for the guidance in the last 100 years.

In the introduction of the holy mass, the pioneering six FMA Missionary sisters who arrived Tanjore, India in 1922, were fondly remembered for their untiring work in rooting the FMA mission in the Indian Soil. As a sign of thanking the Lord for the last hundred years, 100 lights were brought to the Altar by the Salesian Sisters and the Salesian family members.

In the introduction of the holy mass, Rector Major remarked looking at everyone gathered there, that in heaven, St. John Bosco and Mother Mary Mazarello would be happy to see the Salesian fathers and sisters and the whole Salesian family. On this auspicious day of great joy, Rector Major invited the gathering to celebrate the faith that has been guiding us till day and to thank the Lord for the salvific history that has been transforming the lives of many downtrodden young people in these hundred years.

In the homily, Rector Major insisted on three things.

–       The humble ambient in Mornese stands as a witness to how the hand of God has been guiding the FMA mission for the last 100 years in India and 150 years in the world at large.

–       He thanked the spirit of God that guided the pioneering six FMA missionary sisters who shared the divine light to the most deserving children of God in the Indian soil.

–       Finally, he invited everyone to look at the future with faith that guided the congregation for the last 150 years. He also insisted that we always remain faithful to the poorest of the poor which is our true charismatic identity.

As he concluded, he quoted St. John Bosco who said, “My dear young people, it is my only wish to see you happy here and for eternity”. As he congratulated the hundreds of young girls who sang so well, exhorted them to remain happy in God’s unfailing fidelity.

At the end of the holy eucharist, the Salesian Family greeted the Rector Major and the Mother General and her council.
