Poland - Spiritual Exercises for Rectors of Salesian Communities of Krakow Province

26 September 2022

Szczyrk, Poland - September 2022 - From September 18 to 24, Spiritual Exercises were held at the Shrine of Our Lady of Szczyrk for the Rectors and Leaders of the Salesian presences of the Krakow Province (PLS), accompanied by the PLS Provincial and his Vicar, Fr. Marcin Kaznowski and Fr. Zygmunt Kostka, respectively. The exercises were led by Fr. Grzegorz Strzelczyk, a priest of the Archdiocese of Katowice, an expert in dogmatics, pastor, board member of the St. Joseph Foundation and author of numerous books. The theme of the retreat was "The Church as the Community of Salvation, or on how dogmatics helps (or not) personal and pastoral conversion." Each of those present came to this retreat with the experience of many years of pastoral work, preaching, sermons, meetings, and catechesis. During the Exercises, the preacher's words and dogmatics shed clear light on what and how to preach to the faithful of today, and demonstrated the solid teaching of the Church, captivating again with the beauty of the rich tradition of Catholic theology. The thought presented also found a valuable pastoral translation, helping to make a personal examination of conscience. The preacher shared his experience of pastoral work and, as a dogmatic theologian, also showed the pitfalls of some contemporary movements in the Church in Poland. The Spiritual Exercises enriched the participants with new content, helping them to purify themselves through a confrontation with sound and solid Church doctrine.
