Italy - Salesian Cooperators offer a helping hand to families hit by the quake in central Italy

01 September 2016

(ANS - Rome) - A few days ago, Antonio Boccia, the World Councillor of the Association of Salesian Cooperators (ASC) of the Region of Italy-Middle East-Malta, issued an appeal to all members of the Association to organize effectively their aid to families affected by the earthquake in central Italy.

The drama that people are experiencing in the earthquake area prompts us to take action. The desire on our part to do something can also be seen from the simple messages that are arriving. To avoid a waste of energy and resources, our response as ASC can be organized as follows:

1 - Raise the level of awareness of the Salesian Cooperators through the widespread dissemination in the areas where there are centres of the poster with details of our current account. This will enable us to collect funds to be used in concrete projects and aid initiatives.

2 - Get in touch with the local bodies near us (the Diocese, parishes, Salesian Cooperators, etc.) to identify measures within our reach.

3 - Define the project to be carried out on the basis of what emerges from this monitoring

I ask you to start immediately on point 1, while for nos. 2 and 3 there will be adequate space in the next Regional Council.

Greetings to everyone. Let us unite in prayer for those who at this moment are in pain and need.

Antonio Boccia
World Councillor
Salesian Cooperators Association
Region Italy-Middle East-Malta
