The inaugural edition of the DB Talks – the ‘Doctors Conclave’ – was the first in the series of events planned to connect eminent DB Past Pupils with the current batches of students and their parents and offer them insights and guidance from their field of expertise and experiences.
The event was inaugurated by Dr Prabhdeep Kaur, Epidemiologist - ICMR- National Institute of Epidemiology in Chennai. A panel discussion followed, which was moderated by Dr Winston Noronha, Professor and HOD Surgery, Meenakshi Dental College and Medical Superintendent, Meenakshi General Hospital, in which the doctors shared their experiences with a focus on advancements in medicine and the art and science of holistic healthcare.
The distinguished alumni doctors who participated in the event and shared their views and gave insights were Dr. S. Suresh, Chairman of VHS Hospitals; Dr Kurian Joseph, Director of Joseph Hospitals; Dr Thangarajan Rajkumar, Professor and Head - Dept. of Molecular Oncology, Cancer Institute, Adyar; Dr J S Rajkumar, Chairman, Lifeline Hospitals; Dr M.A Raja,, Oncologist, MGM Healthcare; Dr R Sujeer, General Dentist & Endodontist, Dr. Rao Dental Clinic; Dr Anil Pande, Neurosurgeon, Apollo Hospitals; Dr Jacob Jamesraj, Senior Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, MMM Hospital; Dr U Subash Rau, Senior Consultant Physician & Diabetologist, Dakshin Medical Consultancy, Adar and Dr Sanjay Cherian, V P & Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, Frontier Lifeline Hospital (Dr: Cherian Heart Foundation).
More than 400 students of Don Bosco, Egmore and Lady Andal School, from classes 10, 11 and 12 and their parents participated in this event. It was indeed a rare and unique experience for the students. The Rector of DB Egmore, Fr. Xavier Pakiam speaking on the event affirmed: “It is great to see so many of our Past Pupils offering various services in the society in different parts of the world. Hundreds of our DB students are doctors, and these selected doctors from Chennai who have come to the conclave, are offering a great service to a large number of people especially through the health care services. Don Bosco is proud of them, because they carry in them the DB spirit, and give back to the society what they have received. I believe that every Don Bosco student will give back manifold for the betterment of the society, through their life and work”.
