Italy - Minister of Education and Merit visits Salesian school in Sesto San Giovanni

22 December 2022

Sesto San Giovanni, Italy - December 2022 - The Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, on the morning of Dec. 19, visited the Don Bosco Salesian Institute in Sesto San Giovanni, in the presence of the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, the Lombardy Region's Councilor for Metropolitan City Development, Youth and Communication, Stefano Bolognini, and the mayors of Sesto San Giovanni and Cinisello. "We are honored for this visit, which was a great sign of appreciation towards our educational reality, but above all towards the commitment and passion of our teachers, trainers, and collaborators who every day devote themselves to the good of our students and whose goal is education, but above all human growth," said the Director at the end of the morning. The Minister was able to see students at work on digital education and in the innovative automotive, robotics, and industrial mechanics workshops.

In the classrooms and labs, the Minister was able to observe the hallmarks of the educational offerings of the Salesians: innovation through multimedia didactics, which has led the school to become an "Apple Distinguished School" that sees digital tools applied to learning, but always with a strong focus on educating young people in their responsible use; first-level vocational training, which has always characterized the educational model of Don Bosco, but which has been able to renew itself to keep up with the times, also thanks to close collaboration with the territory and its companies; highly professionalizing higher education, capable of responding to the growing demand of companies for new and highly qualified skills, in light of the challenges related to Industry 4. 0 and digital transformation.
