India – “Dear Young People, be Assured, We Love You”

(ANS – Hyderabad) - The youth of Telangana region gathered for the ‘Annual Youth Fest - Echoes 2023,’ at Don Bosco Navajeevan, Ramanthapur with all the children of Navajeevan Rehabilitation Centres and DB Tech Students to interact with Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, the Rector Major of the Salesian Congregation.

On his arrival, he was accorded a traditional welcome by the Salesians Fathers, Sisters and the youngsters. His jovial and lively presence, did amplify the smiles on the faces of the young people, who did not imagine that they could see and touch the tenth successor of Don Bosco in their midst.

The Rector of Don Bosco Navajeevan Community, Fr. Thomas Remalla and his team felicitated the Rector Major, the Regional Councillor, the Superiors and Special invitees gathered for the occasion. In his welcome address he said: ”Youth are the soul of the Salesian body, the essence of Salesian existence and the spirit of Salesian spirituality. This Annual Youth Fest ‘Echoes’ clearly indicates that the young people will be the echoes of our daily life”.

The Rector Major while addressing the youth, mentioned that if Don Bosco were to be present there, his joy would have no bounds to see such a gathering of committed fathers, sisters and promising and energetic youngsters. He expressed his great satisfaction to notice the collaboration between Salesian Fathers, Salesian Sisters and Holy Spirit Sisters for the well-being and overall development of the children.  He said, “Don Bosco loved and cared for both boys and girls equally, but he has a special predilection for the poor and abandoned children. Dear young People, be assured, we love you”.

He said to the youngsters that they were special because Don Bosco loved them. He expressed his wish and dream that every youngster should feel happy and be assured that they are loved unconditionally by all the Salesians.

He appreciated organizers for the meaningful cultural programme and congratulated the teachers and sisters for their choreography and the children for their great performance.

Fr Ángel, concluded by reiterating Don Bosco’s special devotion to Mary Help of Christians and her miraculous intervention in his mission. He recommended the youngsters to develop a filial devotion to her. The programme came to very meaningful close with a Hail Mary and the blessing of Mary Help of Christians by the Rector Major.
