Chile - Fr. Gabriel Romero meets with Provincial House staff

19 May 2023

Santiago de Chile, Chile - May 2023 - As part of the Extraordinary Visit to the Province of Chile, Fr. Gabriel Romero, Councilor for the America Southern Cone Region, visited the Provincial House on May 15. More than 30 people from the central teams of the Youth Ministry, Administration, Education, Communication, and Services met with the Regional Councilor. After introductions and a time of prayer, Fr. Romero shared four important ideas. "The first is being able to value this very diverse group of people. The essential thing is to know each other, to value each other. For my part, I just want to thank you for your commitment to your work," he said. "The second is that we all work in an educational institution. We are educator-pastors, because we have at the center of our task the young people, who are the recipients of the Salesian mission." The third idea focused on the possibility of working increasingly interconnected. "We hope that the connection between teams and Sectors will be increasingly closer. We hope to be able to follow this path of interconnection, which will involve spaces for meeting, shared discernment, decision-making and dialogue." The last idea developed by the Regional Councilor was to reflect on the meaning of the Provincial House. "We are here to work for others," he said. Also participating in this meeting were the Provincial Delegate for Youth Ministry, Fr. Juan Miguel Cárcamo, and the Provincial Economer, Fr. José Toledo. Fr. Romero later met with the Provincial Delegates from each area.
