The Salesian Vocations Day, which will close on the occasion of the feast of Don Bosco, on January 31st, is an opportunity to help young people and children who attend Salesian environments to discover and deepen Salesian spirituality and, above all, what God calls them to.
On the other hand, through the experience of the “community weeks”, vocations week constitutes an opportunity also for SDBs and FMAs to open the doors of their homes to the young so as to let them experience a “small piece” of every day Salesian life.
“We instinctively recognize the profound bond between vocation and home, and probably just because of this the first question of the apostles is about the “abode” of Jesus; as if discovering where he dwells were already like entering in communion with Him and understanding at a deeper level his holy call – this is the explanation given by the promoters of the initiative –. Here then we find the sense of this Week: brushing up the reasons why Don Bosco’s home has also become our home to help each young person feel at home in our schools and oratories and so encounter the Lord Jesus alive, today, in our houses”.
Vocations Weeks, realized in many religious communities of diverse areas of the regions of Lombardy and Emilia, commenced in mid-January and will finish, in the zone of Bergamo-Brescia, at the end of February. Besides, in the last days, in all the communities a lot of tangible material prepared for the occasion was distributed, such as the Vocations Week Poster and the Novena to Don Bosco.
Numerous digital products were also prepared for Vocations animation: thanks also to the collaboration of the Salesians of Piedmont and Aosta Valley, two thematic videos are available as well as 6 short interviews with young people, animator and educators, on the theme of vocation, of the Salesian house and of how this house enables to encounter the Lord.
