Germany - Inauguration of Don Bosco House in Munich

08 February 2017

(ANS - Munich) – A few days after the feast of Don Bosco, the Salesians in Munich inaugurated a new house for children in early February. After nine years of planning and two years of construction, Don Bosco House was officially opened. With 4,300 square meters of total floor area, the house can accommodate a nursery with four classrooms for 48 children, a kindergarten with four classrooms for 100 children and an after-school with 3 classroom for 75 children.

The house is run by the parish of St Wolfgang which is served by the Salesians of Don Bosco.

The intention of the Salesians is to offer children support in their daily lives from the first year of infancy to the end of primary school with support and creativity, experience and learning.

In addition to nursery, kindergarten and after-school activities, the school foundation Münchner Schulstiftung has rented classrooms for a high school. In the top two of the four floors of Don Bosco House there are also apartments for employees of the Salesian works in Monaco. On the ground floor the Salesians offer an informal meeting space in the Café SpIatzennest (Sparrows’ Nest Café).

"It's nice to see that an idea, after many years in design and development on paper, has finally taken root and we now have a centre for children, teens and young adults, according to the ideals of Don Bosco" commented enthusiastically Fr Stefan Stöhr, Rector of the Salesians in Munich, on the occasion of the opening
