RMG – Animation Visit of the Rector Major in Vietnam

(ANS – Rome) – Next Monday, February 20th, the Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, will arrive in Ho Chi Minh City, for an animation visit to the Salesians of the Province “St. John Bosco” in Vietnam (VIE). The Tenth Successor of Don Bosco will remain in the country of South-Eastern Asia till February 27th. He will be accompanied by his Secretary, Fr. Horacio López, and by the Regional Councillor for East Asia – Oceania as well, Fr. Václav Klement, who is already in Vietnam doing the Extraordinary Visitation.

Due to the geographical conformation of the country and the corresponding distribution of the Salesian presences in the territory, the visit of the Rector Major is planned in two phases, first in South Vietnam and then in the North.

In the first phase, the appointments of Tuesday, February 21st, have a special relevance: first, the meeting with the Provincial Council, then with the Salesians of the houses in the South of the country and finally the encounter with the youth, with whom he will exchange a dialogue and for whom he will preside over the Eucharist. The following day will also be important, with an animation visit of the Rector Major to the Novices of Ba Thon and to the Salesian Family of the area of Ho Chi Minh City.

Thursday, February 23rd, the Tenth Successor of Don Bosco will reach Dalat and then will go on to the North, to listen to, guide and encourage also the Salesians, the Salesian Family and the young who are active in the houses of the Northern regions, with visit Cat Dam and with a special moment for a visit to the pastoral episcopal centre of Thai Binh, that will take the whole the afternoon of Saturday 25th.

On Monday 27th the Rector Major will leave the country to go to Chennai, where – together with the other Councillors of the Sector – he will commence the series of Team Visits in the diverse Salesian Regions, starting from South Asia.
