South Africa - A partnership between the Salesians and Porsche

13 April 2017

Cape Town, South Africa - March 2017 - On 30 March a Vocational training program for the after-sales service of Porsche was launched at the Salesian Institute in Cape Town. The collaboration between the Salesians and Porsche aims to train 75 young people (25 per year for three years), from the poorest areas of the city, through seminars and workshops with cars provided by the group, and soft skills courses, to enable them to be employed at the Volkswagen Group, which owns the Porsche brand. The project was created on the model of that already operating in Manila, Philippines, since 2008. Fr Francois Dufour, Superior of the Salesians in South Africa, chaired the launch of the project, in the presence of Fr Jeff Johnson, Director of the Salesian Institute in Cape Town, Fr Pat Naughton, Director of Youth Projects of the Institute, various Salesians, Porsche executives and staff.
