RMG - "Let us pray for this relic to soon return to its rightful place, at Colle Don Bosco"

06 June 2017

(ANS - Rome) - Waiting, trust, prayer: it is in this spirit that the Salesian Family is facing this time of uncertainty following the theft of Don Bosco's relics from the Basilica of Castelnuovo. "To date, there is nothing new in the investigations regarding those responsible for the theft of Don Bosco's relics; we trust the investigative team investigating across-the-board to identify and find the culprits," said the Vicar of the Rector Major Fr. Francesco Cereda earlier today, June 6.

"News of the theft” - continues Don Cereda - “has resonated across the globe, as an expression of love for Don Bosco. This is the meaning of a relic of a saint: to offer a visible and tangible element to encourage the invocation and imitation of the saint. It is so with Don Bosco, who continues to be loved and invoked for young people, especially the poorest and most needy."

The Rector Major's Vicar concludes: "We hope and pray for this relic to soon return to its rightful place, at Colle Don Bosco, precisely where Don Bosco himself was born."
