After registering participants of SDM gathered for joint Eucharist which was led by Msgr. Aliaksandr Yasheuski SDB, Auxiliary Bishop of Minsk and Mohilev.
Addressing the participants of SDM, the hierarch said: “Dear members of the Salesian Youth days. Let me wish you that the words ‘Lord, give me this water’, which opens the content of the Strenna, and the motto of Don Bosco’s life ‘Give me the souls’ become for you, young people, the future of the Church and Society, a challenge and a joyful duty to form ourselves. Follow the example of Samaria’s woman to learn the love of God and share it with others, to seek to build in this life only for the values and principles that Jesus taught by word and example, to worship God in spirit and truth, now and ever and forever eternal. Amen.”
Fr. Victor Haidukevich SDB, Provincial Delegate for the Salesian Society in Belarus, also welcomed participants of SDM in his word. The priest noted the importance of SDM: "Salesian Youth Days are aiming to become the platform of youth - a place where our young friends will be able to enrich themselves spiritually and experience the presence of the Lord; will be able to feel and experience the support in the form of an ongoing dialogue, which ultimately helps the young person to meet with Christ; can get necessary knowledge and support to be able to meet the challenges of the Church and society; and that for us is very important, will be able to speak, to participate actively in the process of preaching the Word of God for today's younger generation and make it more efficient."
Then the participants of the meeting had been prepared Christian musical concert featuring the Salesian bands.
The first day of the meeting was ended with the worship of the Blessed Sacrament.
On the second day after morning Eucharist there were workshops in various areas and spheres of life, such as financial education, family relations, time management, conflict resolution, Internet and social networks.
After intensive work, young people have the opportunity to relax and spend the free time in the city together with Salesian animators and cooperators.
On the third day after the solemn Holy Mass on the finish of SDM, which was headed by the auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Minsk-Mogilev Yuri Kosobudsky, has summarized the results of SDM. The youth thanked the organizers for a good time and new knowledge, and even wrote a poem dedicated to the SDM.
The Salesians in Belarus hope that, as Father Delegate had mentioned, these days will be included in the tradition and will collect more and more young people in the charisma of St. John Bosco.
