Vatican - Fr Murguía Villalobos appointed new prelate bishop of Mixes

(ANS - Vatican City) - In accepting the renunciation of Msgr. Héctor Guerrero Córdova, SDB, the Holy Father Francis has appointed Fr Salvador Cleofás Murguía Villalobos, Salesian, as a Prelate of Mixes, in Mexico, currently a member of the Formation Department at the Salesian Headquarters.

Fr Murguía Villalobos was born in León on 25 September, 1953. A professed Salesian since 1974, he made his perpetual vows in Guadalajara on 28 September, 1980.

He attended the courses of philosophical and theological preparation in the Salesian seminary of Tlaquepaque, obtained a License in Educación Media in the area of Pedagogy and a Licentiate in Spiritual Theology at the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS) in Rome. He also attended a postgraduate course in Spiritual Theology at Berkeley, in the United States.

He was ordained a priest on December 11, 1982, in Tlaquepaque. His pastoral duties include being Director and Spiritual Director of the Salesian Minor Seminary of Guadalajara, Director of the Salesian Institute of Higher Studies, Director and Master of Novices in the Chula-Vista Novitiate, Director of the Provincial House of Guadalajara, and Director of the Theologate of Tlaquepaque.

For the Province he was Vicar, Delegate for Formation and finally Provincial.

Since 2015 he has been in Rome and works as Delegate for Latin America at the Dicastery of Formation.
